STA home page

Visit STA's new website at http://aquinas.org.

The focus for the new site was on making it easy for different groups in the school community (students, staff, parents & alumni) to find the information and services that were important to them.  This was accomplished using:

  • Portal landing pages for each group which dynamically display the latest announcements and provide links to important sections of the site,
  • A structured information architecture reflected in the navigation menu, and
  • A live-search tool with relevance rankings.

Features include easy editing of content by teachers and staff using a web browser, and the ability for students to submit content to the site.  Student submissions are reviewed using the publishing workflow before it is allowed to be publicly viewed on the site.

Behind the scenes, STA's new site has been connected to the school's LDAP server so that teachers and students can log in to the site using their existing network user accounts, and web site permissions for adding and editing content can be set using the existing security groups.  This has resulted in a lower administrative load for the webmasters.
